Delhi nursery admission 2027-28 age criteria and calculator
The Delhi DoE circular dated 24 October 2025 sets the phased foundational-stage framework. For new 2027-28 admissions, its age references on 31 March 2027 are Nursery at 3+, Lower KG at 4+, and Upper KG at 5+. The circular separately allows existing KG pupils to progress to Class 1 under the transition rules; a five-year-old should not automatically be labelled a new Class 1 applicant.
Head-of-school age relaxation and progression exceptions require approval and supporting records. Confirm the applicable school notice before applying. Age-source review: 14 October 2026; this is not confirmation of the 2027-28 admission calendar.

EWS, DG and CWSN
These categories follow the applicable Directorate of Education process. Eligibility, seat allocation and document rules should be checked on the official portal for the relevant session.

Requirements vary by school and category. Commonly requested records include:
- Child’s birth certificate and recent photographs
- Parent or guardian identity documents
- Delhi residential address proof accepted by the school

General-category private-school applications
Open the selected school's official campus notice and use its form, submission channel and document instructions. Keep a separate acknowledgement for each application. A discovery platform or search result is not the application authority.
EWS, DG and CWSN applications
Start from the official Delhi EWS/DG admission portal and the applicable DoE notice. Verify the category, session, documents and any separate schedule; do not reuse a general-category school's deadline automatically.
Government-school applications
Use the government-school admission instructions linked by the Delhi Education Department. A private-school open-seat circular is not a substitute for that process.
Delhi nursery admission fees: what to check
The 2026-27 open-seat circular, paragraph 3, specified a Rs 25 registration fee and made purchase of the prospectus optional. This is a historical rule, not confirmation of the 2027-28 amount.
Ask the school for a dated fee notice that separates registration, admission charges, recurring tuition, annual items and optional transport. Confirm the payment deadline and applicable refund terms before paying. School charges are separate from any ChampStart plan.
Selection lists, waiting lists and next steps
Use the school's dated notice rather than a forwarded list or search snippet. Match the application reference, campus, entry class and category before acting.
- Selected: note the verification and payment deadline, required originals and official contact channel.
- Waiting list: follow the school's stated process for later lists or available seats. Do not assume the entry reserves a place.
- Mismatch or query: save the notice and acknowledgement, and contact the school through the published channel within any stated query period.
Keep other eligible applications under review until you have a confirmed offer. Do not pay an intermediary to secure a seat.
